Note: The calculator can be used for the entire Mathematical Reasoning exam except for the first five questions.

Accessing the Calculator on-screen

The calculator is built into the GED test software on the computer. You can also use a physical calculator distributed by the testing center.
You can access it during the test by clicking on 'Calculator' in the top left-hand side of the test.
This will open the GED Calculator window, within the test window.

Don’t have the TI-30XS calculator

Don’t worry! You can download a 90 day trial for the TI-SmartView emulator for MathPrint calculators. This should be more than enough time to get ready for your exam.

What are people saying about GED Math in 30 days?

One of Mr. T’s powerful catchphrase was “stop playing”. Stop playing with your time, playing with your studies, playing with your goals. You can do it and it’s obtainable! With the use of the calculator, I completed the math exam two months ahead of schedule.

Thanks again Mr. Tinsley for you love and caring for each and every one of your students by making this book. Currently, I am a Certified Medical Assistant and soon going back to school to become a LPN. Thanks

William M.
Former Student

His tactics and shortcuts were pivotal for me to understanding mathematics and improving my score on the Math portion of my High School Equivalency exam. By using the calculator, I finished my exam with 40 minutes to spare. Currently, I enrolled in college pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology . Thanks Mr. T

Isaac M.
Forever Grateful

Without his unique way of teaching and magical use of the calculator, I would have never have made it. He is by far the best teacher I've ever had.

Thank you Mr. Tinsley for changing my life for the better. I cannot express how grateful I am. Once I obtained my diploma, I received a promotion and a substantial pay raise, almost immediately. In addition, once I'm in my position for six months, the hospital will pay for additional training and/or college. Truly, a dream come true.

  • The First Five

    ``The First Five`` - Part 1

The ``First Five`` are the first five problems on the exam. The TI-30XS calculator cannot be used.
The ``First Five`` typically come from the following concepts:
    • Undefined
    • Absolute Value
    • Greatest Common factor
    • Fractions (Converting from an improper fraction to a mixed number)
    • Multiplying/Dividing Decimals
    • Ordering Fractions, Decimals and Percents
    • Square, Square Roots, Cube & Cube Roots

  • ``The First Five`` - Part 2
